Installing something on top of the vents is going to cause overheating.

I've been weighing the same concern about overheating. I recently picked up the red and white CREE LED's (https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B074JM6M21) to mount on the Tello. I velcro'd the white LED on top, but haven't decided about where on the bottom to mount the red one. I'm open to any thoughts or suggestions.

My intent is that they are anti-collision lights, so side mounting would block the light on the opposite side. Thanks for the suggestion.

You got me thinking about hanging the LED from the bottom by about two cm to let the air flow over the bottom vents.
