DJI Neo

I am waiting here with my wallet in my hands. Ready to buy _now_ . The latest leaks show it has all I ever wanted.

That looks like it is the worthy successor of the Tello. However I doubt that it will come with a simple API like the EDU. If it caomes with API then it's the full blown SDK.

Yes, me too. I hoped dji announces it today, but looks like has a delay. It´s high time to replace the tello, is on the market for like 6.5 years without major changes. Interesting however, that the price on the tello doesn´t go down, it got more expensive. Since i have a dronemask 2, for me would be the basic fly more combo enough withoiut the goggles and motion controller.

I don't think the dronemask will work as the app is shown in portrait mode, and its unlikely the DJI app will support external gamepad controllers out of the box.

DJI obviously try to sell their own (pretty cool and powerful) FPV goggles and controllers, and not let people use their old PS3 controllers and some VR headset.

I do think that the mask will work, because the Neo comes with RC-N3 controller, which is the same looking radio, like the previous models debuted with Mini 2. That controller takes the smartphone landscape and uses the Fly app, which is also landscape. The only thing what´s needed is a otg cable, but I have that. I fly all my drones (the Tello too) with this mask.

right, that should work OK.
Somehow I had in mind: Dronemask plus playstation controller. Which won't work, except for Octopus style mappers which I don't like.

Yea, sounds pretty cool.

For some reason I had a weirdo image in my mind that you were trying to use the DJI app inside the mask with a gamepad style controller, which most likely requires the app to be in portrait mode. With an external DJI controller it will be landscape so no problem.

Flying vlos is getting boring after a few weeks or months. This thing converted my drones into FPV. I use your fantastic app for flying my Tellos real FPV. How much fun it makes? Just check out my statistics. Look at the flown distance... 😎

Same for me. For me VLOS is only for getting some quick shot / selfie shot. Otherwise I do FPV using some old Galaxy VR goggles. Cheapest way to get some FPV fun. No acrobatics of course but I'm more into cruising around and enjoying the birds eye view.

I will try to get my hands on one, depending what retailer will carry it on release day.
My target is a fly more combo with controller, but I read, that it could be compatible with the rc-n2 controller, which I can get for €50 2nd hand. But, let's see what packeges dji offers and for what money. I expect just the dron around 200 - 250€ and the fly more kit around 300 - 350€

Still working on the final tweaks but here is the new site if you'd like to be one of the first to join us at the new NEOpilots.com.
Cool. This will be a massive thing, it is listed in Germany for 200€ for the drone alone and 350€ for flymore with 3 batteries and controller.
