I have a flaky T1d controller that has creep and an off centre controller stick. Is possible to set a dead zone for the controller in TelloFpv on iOS? I can't find this setting anywhere. I was able to set a dead zone on my Android tablet and it worked perfectly but on my iPhone with TelloFpv I can't find this setting anywhere.

Volatello can answer it, but I haven't seen him for days... He told me to buy a neo, maybe he's busy with it. But imo, get rid of that junk controller. I had 2 of this, came with the drone, sold immediately. I have a t1s (bought for €10) as reserve, but use drone controller. I recommend you to pick a controller can be used wired. Without bluetooth, you get better range and live feed.

Thanks for your reply.
I usually use my tablet (Android) but was thinking of trying FPV so that hats why I’m asking about dead zone settings on iOS. Don’t really want to put more money into Tello with a new controller.

I fly the Tello fpv, but I have android. I have 2 different controllers. A t1s gamepad and a emax d8 drone controller. Both wired. Bought both 2nd hand (10€ each), but were actually like new. This is not too much. I prefer the emax, because it has much better joysticks, easy to fly smooth.

There is no such setting on iOS, as it has only a simplified controller tuning. The Android one, while very capable, is overkill for 99% of all users and is one of the main reasons for support trouble. People misconfigure and then complain, or crash their drones.

I second the suggestion to throw that t1d out the window. If it has creep it likely also has erratic output so you can't reliably use it.
Try to find some old controller from the junk drawer, anything that can be paired with iOS works. XBox, PS, Wii Pro, you name it

Thanks for your reply, I appreciate it.

The T1d is behaving as you said even with the dead zone tuning done on my Android tablet. I did not know that Xbox controllers work. I may have to try my son's Xbox one controller with my iPhone to see if I can get it to work. That way I can try out the FPV mode to see if I like it. The new NEO has piqued my interest in FPV. Just hoping DJI will release a low cost FPV package in the near future that works with NEO.

Chris

The origianl non-BT controller does not work, the BT ones work:

FPV with Tello is the poor man's step into FPV cruising. Most folks have some old controller in a drawer and the VR goggles are cheap. Its a fun experience and given the good video stabilization not really causing much motion sickness. Just give it a try.

I already have a Neo but I am also waiting for cheaper goggles or maybe some black friday deal.

Great little bird, can do all I need from a drone and then some more.
I consider it an unfinished product as many many features are still missing. Hardware is good for the price but firmware and app still need a lot of work.

The only thing I hate about it -as most will agree- is the noise / pitch when flying indoors. Outdorrs its better but still not nice

Thanks for your comments about it. The noise, not being able to use landscape mode for phone only, and limited options to adjust settings without an external controller are my concerns.

Chris

That landscape limitation will go away. They 100% copied what HoverAIr did with the original X1, both functionality and layout of the app.
And guess what: The new HoverAir app has landscape control

Also for camera settings, that will certainly come in the near future. Its all in the drone, just needs a UI button

Hopefully they release a firmware update to fix the issues instead of waiting until a new version of the drone is released.

I got my son's Xbox controller to work with my iPhone. It works perfectly. I think the control is even better than my T1d. Too bad the tablet/phone mount I got for the T1d awhile back won't fit on the Xbox controller then I could get rid of the T1d for good.

Now I am going to try FPV with my very cheap goggles

Tried the FPV and it's pretty cool even though the feed was lagging a lot and jerky. Not really that useable. Now if DJI would just release a low cost FPV package I would definitely have fun with the NEO (yet to purchase).

Do you use wifi extender? My live feed is smooth. Has a little lag, but not too much.
