you should have at least the same distance horizontal as vertical. If you hover directly above your head you are in the weakest spot for the wifi signal (Tello has antennas that produce a donut shaped signal pattern)

Thanks Volatello! That's good to know! Was thinking of buying a Spark for the vertical camera aspect, but to be honest, for the amount of time I'll use the Tello/Spark, the Tello is awesome for stills!
