Today i took my tello outside around the building for a little fun using the new prop-guard ordered from aliexpress.
All good for a while took some nice pictures.
But suddenly at 30m altitude a wind gusts took the tello away, put it in fast mode but nothing. Tello was keept drift away. I run foward after it but my repeater fall of my pants and he shuts off. Put it back in going for the tello but no wifi signal from the drone. Tello was hovering over a nearby building. The building had around 5 floors height and had a fence around it. I was going around it to try to get some signal from my tello but in vain. Looked up nothing i didn t knew if the drone was over this building or driftet over another one, finaly a car enters the complex and i aproach the building, seen my tello on the wifi but only one bar signal. Opened the app and the was overheating and in 2 seconds lost it, he turned off because of the heating, but in that 2 seconds i saw where it was, he landed on top of the building. My big save was that the building was opened and they had a ladder to get in the attic. All good got on top of the building and found my tello sitting there. Is good to know i didn t slip from the top of the building.
The moral to this story: don’t use these kind of prop-guards when is even slow wind outside (i flew my tello with original prop-guard in bigger winds and it was very stable)
Some pictures about the tello journey.

Good story, great ending! Glad you got little Tello back unscathed.

You really did a lot of things right - to keep track of it, find it, and recover.

And thanks for relating your experience to the rest of us, might save another Tello one day (y)

Awesome story. Great ending.
We all wish for similar endings, when we lose our drones. Lucky for us, we have steps that we can take, TelloFPV, Wi-Fi extenders, Colored props and guards........

Update on Ironman props and guards.

As you can see from the picture, contrary to what DJI might tell you, Ironman props and guards fit the standard Tello perfectly. I personally don't fly with guards, most of the time, too easy to get caught in a tree, or whatever, but it sure makes it easy to see off in the distance, or upside down, on the ground....Unless it's way up in a tree....then good luck...LOL.

The props from china non original i saw they are made from different plastic , not that durable, do they keep the drone the same as the original? They are the same in the wind. As i saw that on mine with different prop-guard was a big issue in wind. Also @Pilot47 what kind of props do you have on the tello in the back, they seem different.

The props on the drone in the back are Makerfire 73mm. They're difficult to install and remove, I can't really recommend them, plus they break fairly easy. She hasn't broken them yet, otherwise they would be the new Ironman props instead, but she has the guards because she still flies with them. The "knockoffs" are made from a different type of plastic, I've used a lot of different types, mostly Anbee brand, from China, in my opinion they are not nearly as good as the OEM props, same for the guards.
