Drones under 250 grams - New Canadian regulations as of June 1, 2019

I see the 250 gram limit, the altitude restrictions, the “distance from” restrictions as generous and reasonable. As we all know, the most dangerous aspects of a drone are the weight and the props. In public spaces mandatory prop guards may be a good idea too.

The “best toy drone” I can envision is a cross between a Tello and a Spark. It would have:
1. a 1080p camera with sd card
2. 12 real minutes of flight time
3. frontwards obstacle avoidance
4. the same altitude and position sensors as the Tello
5. 150 to 175 grams weight
That’s all. I think the doubling of weight from the Tello would reduce buffeting from the wind and result in cleaner video. If not, a 2-axis gimbal would be nice too.

With that said, I shall continue to dream on.
