Tello sitting for 4 years won't start with "new" batteries. What am I doing wrong?

Tello sitting for 4 years, Installed new batteries, (just purchased 2), & doesn't want to charge or start. What am I doing wrong? I've read several other related posts, but didn't seem to help. Do "new" batteries from an eBay seller sit on the shelf too long? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

The motors can be of the brushed sort. Have you tried to spin them by hand?
Have you tried to charge the new batteries?
Have you tried to measure the voltage of the battery?

I recently came a cross a TELLO that someone bought during covid and only used one time......it came with 3 batteries, of which only one would take a charge ..and only fly for about 30 seconds before running out...so I found these and they work pretty well....not very long flight time compared to the other drones I have ...but it is fun

I found I need to “reset” the batteries by charging in the drone, not the charging base.
