Just don't mention the Tello in the room...

At a DJI consumer event in the UK last Saturday I was intrigued to see several Tellos displayed amongst the DJI Mavic Airs on the tables. Thing was, nobody even mentioned them in the presentation. Furthermore I heard from one of the dealers there that DJI had told him they were never to be called 'DJI Trellos'. It's almost as if DJI had a bastard child and hoped no one would notice!

Technicaĺly they arent DJI Tellos though. Its like a Seat has some Audi tech in it... but its not an Audi.

(Analogy may be even more apt, given the rumours that DJI actually own Ryze)

There's other similarities too, like the manual shares almost the same design and layout as the DJI manuals, right down to the fonts used. DJI handles all the support and marketing for the Tello and actually has it's name on the front of the box, whereas Ryze is relegated to the small print on the back.

I would say the Lexus/Toyota analogy makes a lot of sense.
