Poor range

Hi all, I fly my Tello with an iPhone 6, so far I am finding range no where near 100m quoted and poor video feed which often breaks up! ? can’t go more than 10-15m away from me outside, any ideas to improve?.. phone in airplane mode just wi-fi on. Any suggestions welcome!!

It could be wifi "noise" in the area you are flying. Try a wide-open location away from suburbia.

You won't get much more out of your device, I barely reach 30 meters at best...
Unless you add some kind of wifi expander!
My solution using the Xiaomi Mi 2 expander is there, google translate it. Range jumps to around 130 meters with a correct video feed. It's a relief!

Install a wifi scanner app, and (with the drone on the ground but connected) hold your phone as you do to fly, and as you do to text.
I noticed a massive drop in signal strength when holding my phone in "fly mode", mainly due to my wedding ring being directly over the wifi antenna.
Im using a phone tripod as a pistol grip to hold the phone. Still not getting more than 30m but on the flipside, at that distance, i can barely see the drone
