I eventually succumbed to temptation and madness, returned the Tello unopened and took delivery of the Mini SE combo. Son's been flying\learning for a couple days now and we've had great fun recording some fantastic quality footage. Before ordering I accepted I'd have extra costs but the amount of enjoyment I see on the 10 years olds face and a seeing learn so much about his new hobby it's been (so far) worth every penny. I think the short fly time per battery change on the tello was final bit that swayed me.
