Control Tello with only the contoller

Hi. Is it possible to just use the controller without a smart phone attached? If so, how does one pair it?
Also, can I use an iphone 6s with it? Am thinking can use my old phones for our club’s Learn to Fly days.

It is not possible to control Tello only from the controller without a smartphone.
You can use your iPhone 6s but with the dedicated app of Tello Ryze.

You can also use the Tello EDU app to fly and code. Although, you will not have a camera view. I use both of these for my school's drone club.

Thanks for this. I did not realize there were alternate apps to controlling the Tello. Will be playing all day today! Have you tried any of the others which use the phone movement to control? Any reviews/opinions?
