don't fly in the dark

Dont fly in the dark or semi dark. I flew in an open space and it shot off to the brightest light I just had time to land it.
May not happen again but I am not going to risk it. As we know it navigates via light sensors directed to the ground, so gets confused when it cant see. I know what if feels like.

I'll second that. I didn't realize the Tello needed a well lit area for flight. I took mine out in the back yard on the second day at dusk and promptly watched it run away and then get stuck on the roof of my house. I had to wait until the next day after work before I could climb up there and get it back.
