Gamesir T1d upgrade tool?

Hi.
Newbie here.
I just picked up a Gamesir T1d on Amazon and i'm preparing to set it up and use it.
I see on the Internet a lot of discussion about the importance of downloading the Gamesire T1D upgrading tool and using it before trying to actually trying to hook the controller to the Tel
But...that upgrade kit is NOT currently available in the Google store. Not sure why. Not sure if it is still needed. I see an upgrade kit is available on some web sites, but not sure if those are valid or needed.
And a YouTube video associated with one of the kits says that part of the use of the kit involves the need for a 2.4 Ghz dongle.

So...do I need an T1D upgrade kit? Where do I get it? And are there instructions for its use?

Or is it currently just a matter of pairing my phone with the controller and using it?

First try to connect the controller to the tello
Then check it out!

the thing is, he should at least check the stick calibration. I was able to do it once with the tool, but now the tool crashes/stops as soon as it detects the controller. Fix?
