Need help deciding between standard and edu

Has the sdk for the standard one been updated? What are currently the differences between 1.3 and 2.0? Specially in 2.0 the stop command makes it hover? Is this also present in 1.3? Seems like a pretty basic thing... Thanks for any anwsers.
