I decided I didn't want to wait a month or so for the Ebay and Amazon cases for the Tello to get here, so I went to Harbor Freight and chose an Apache 2800 (the middle size - there's an 1800 and a 3800 also) hardcase. This retails for $29.99 USD, but there's always a discount coupon to be found online. Unlike the 3800 case this one has a solid base layer, two pick apart layers, and a solid eggcrate design in the cover. The Tello actually fits perfectly using only the upper layer, so I pulled a square big enough to surround the Tello, then glued in four of the 4 piece remnants to insure it remains in place. I use a Steelseries Nimbus as a controller, and it fits upright as long as I cut two holes in the bottom layer, and insert it handles down so no pressure from the lid would depress the buttons. There's a bit of room left for spare batteries and USB wires.

Hope this helps anyone with similar equipment.
