With few sales going on in Bestbuy and Walmart for the Tello Boost Pack for $99. I am thinking if I should get that or the Tello EDU for my 9 Son. He loves to play with drone and he has shown interest in programming (currently does it with Sphero Spark) so trying to see which one I should get for him. The boost pack seems he will have more fun with but wanted to know if some basic programming works on that as well thru the EDU app.

You can use scratch with the original Tello and it works great. The Tello is marketed as a fun toy drone to take videos and photos for social media and does the job great. You can use the EDU for this same purpose and also have the advantages of python programming and doing swarm flying. If your son likes to tinker and program more than casual flying, buy the EDU. If he prefers to enjoy flying and from time to time make a small coding to amuse himself, go with original. Hope it helps.
