After about 2/3 minutes I open the app Tello on my iPhone connected to the drone, it just crashes. It doesn’t disconnect anything so I just reopen it and everything is ok but It could be dangerous when it crashes while I’m piloting it, ya know. The version of IOS is 18.1.1 and version of the app is 1.6.8, last updated 3 months ago.

I have same problem.
Since updating iOS to 18.1.2 on my iPhone 12, the Tello app closes suddenly every minute.
And updating to iOS 18.1.3 does not solve the problem.
I had to use old iPhone to make flight without the problem.

Same here. With iOS 18.5 on a 13 Pro the app - and thus the drone - is useless. Sad but guess I'll have to get a newer drone.

So far I haven't heard of issues with my TelloFpv app. I can understand that some folks don't like to pay for an app but I guess better than throwing away the drone.

Funny, I can’t even remember what the original Tello app looks like. The one time I used it was the first time. Bought TelloFPV and never looked back.

I use the original app for IMU and center of gravity calibration.

I never released the IMU calibration. I bricked an old & worn Tello while testing the calibration procedure and figured this would become a nightmare to deal with.
Gravity calibration OTOH is available in TelloFpv.

Yes, I know your app, been using it for many years, but if I calibrate the IMU, do te CoG too, right after.

Just out of curiousity: Does the drone inform you that IMU needs calibration or what is the reason for you doing this?
I know compass & IMU are daily chores with larger and especially drones from the early days like Bebop, Phantoms, early Mavics and such but apart from those I have never done a calibration.

I do imu calibration after each crash and cog almost always after replacing props. The drones never inform you, but it´s better. After IMU and cog calibration they fly better. That´s why I do hard reset on my smartphones and laptops as well. not too often, but once a year. Cleans out unwanted junk off the system.

I recommend calibration on all drones. I had just minor crashes with the Neo, just indoors. I never calibrated it and a few days ago almost had a flyaway.
By the way how accurate the distance measurement? I took screenshots and regarding your app, I flew 71 km with my Tellos.

Distance measurement has its quirks as Tello sometimes exagerates quite a bit. Mostly when flying low over trees: Tello's optical flow sees some fast movements but calculates distance covered using the altitude reported by the barometer and not the altitude above the tree branches.
So some flight that are reported as 400m are only 300m. But all open space flights are fairly accurate

But over many many flight only a fairly small percentage of flights should be affected. My best bet would be that 71km translate to maybe 60 or 65km.

Thank you very much.

Unfortunately I lost my 1st smartphone with the data in it. 2 others are still in use. Even if it´s 60km, still a lot...
