I have a new Tello, GamesirT1S controller, Samsung S7 phone, and Samsung Gear VR headset (HMD) for FPV. I would like to have direct USB connections between all devices (no Bluetooth). Problem is I need to connect the phone to two devices -- GamesirT1S and GearVR HMD. Do these devices follow USB protocol conventions so that a USB "splitter" can be used? Can I come out of the phone into a Y splitter that goes to the controller and the headset, and it will work? Thanks!
It turns out that the Y splitter is not required. The Gear VR HMD only needs to connect to the phone if you are using the hand controller that comes with the headset. Otherwise it just holds the phone like Google cardboard devices. So the phone becomes what we RC'ers would call a programmable transmitter. The T1S controller connects to it via USB OTG for latency free control, and the 2-way wifi connection to the Tello provides the FPV video. Only one USB p hone connection is required.
