Tello how to turn off

Hi I just bought a Tello yesterday. Is there a way to turn it off without pushing the power button? Mine lands and keeps going. I tried picking it up and the propeller hit my finger and flew off.
With regard to an auto shutoff does it matter of you use landing button or the down joystick ?
