@brick72

I'm sorry about your accident.

Were you using your USB wired Gamesir Ts1 controller ?

another Tello Pilot (Android App)

Something similar happened to me from time to time when using my Gamesir wired controller. Suddenly controller is not recognized for aTelloPilot anymore and I lost control of the airplane. The worse part is that app "remember" last controller command and Tello keeps moving in the last direction with great danger of crashing.

What I do in that case is quickly disconnect usb cable between phone and controller. Tello immediately stops moving and stays hovering, then I can keep flying using only phone touch screen or reconnecting usb cable for aTelloPilot recognize controller again (it can takes several seconds).

I am not sure if that is a bug into the app or rather a problem with the USB OTG support into my phone / android version (Samsung A3 2015 SM-A300FU phone running Android LineageOS 14.1 version)

Is that what happened to you ?

Hi, quick feedback: I'm using Android Oreo 8.1 stock on my Moto Z3 Play.

It says it connected to Tello, but the image don't come up and I can't take off unless I put on flight mode.
Otherwise, it's working flawless.
Hi,

What do you mean "unless I put on flight mode" ?

My tello drift at the beginning of flight, I had to shake the controller gimbal, then the Tello stay on its place...I hope there will be update to fix this problem

Hi,

What do you mean "I had to shake the controller gimbal"?
Did you need to move OSD stick or your joystick several times?

You are right. It works that way on my USB OTG wired Gamesir T1 controller. Pushing right stick take picture /video and pushing left one switch mode video / photo.

By the way, lately I noticed aTelloPilot app photo mode hanged after switching from video mode and taking some photos. Controller sticks still alive but photo button neverending blinks and you can't shoot photos anymore until landing.

Sometimes it happend to me after taking a dozen of photos and other times only after a couple of them.

It's very annoying. Has it happened to someone else ?

Thanks for your feedback.
It seems file transfer is not finished properly due to packet loss.
I think timeout is required for taking photo to cancel failed photo file transfer.
I'll fix this issue in the next release.

Hi,

How did you notice "Suddenly controller is not recognized"?
Did you see the "device was disconnected" message on the screen?
If so, OSD stick appeared immediately as soon as it was disconnected otherwise I think controller was not disconnected but the controller was not working at that time.

I'll add some protective codes if the controller is disconnected not to send old rc commands.

So whats up here, no Updates anymore? The last Update is quite a while ago.
Sorry for no update for a while.
Actually I've tried several new features but they are not satisfactory yet.
So no update yet..
I'll prepare minor update fixing the reported issues soon.

Thanks.

I noticed controller is not working becouse Tello keeps moving with no stick input. Other times Tello stays hovering not following stick commands. Also all Gamesir leds get off, except four blue segments battery level indicator.

gamesir t1 otg wired sleep.jpg

It didn't worked the way you say. OSD stick didn't appers inmediatly. I had to unplug USB cable to regain control.

About messages, I rewieved video screen captured for entire flight. Incident sequence was as follows:

01- Flying Tello using Gamesir controller
02- Tello keeps moving and no stick response
03- I disconnected USB OTG cable and Tello stops inmediatly.
04- OSD stick appeared into screen.
05- message "Device connection was lost xiaoji Gamesir-T1 2.13"
06- video image goes black
07- message "Video processing is off Tracking features are deactivated"
08 message "/storage/emulated/0/aTelloPilot/Video/2018-10-04 170629.mp4 is saved"
09- video image is recovered
10- message "/storage/emulated/0/aTelloPilot/Log/flight_log_2018-10-04 170610.DAT is saved"
11- message "Device connection was lost 192.168.10.1:8889"
12- I can control tello using mobile touch screen.
13- I plug USB OTG Gamesir cable again
14- OSD stick dissapear from screen
15- message "Connected to xiaoji Gamesir-T1 2.13"
16- video image goes black
17- Chronometer and distance meter reseted to zero.
18- message "Video processing is off Tracking features are deactivated"
19- message "/storage/emulated/0/aTelloPilot/Log/flight_log_2018-10-04 170954.DAT is saved"
20- video image is recovered
21- message "Connected to xiaoji Gamesir-T1 2.13"
22- message "Device connection was lost 192.168.10.1:8889"
23- I can resume flight normally using controller

Screen captures attached here. I hope it helps

Thaks a lot for your support.

Raul.

I'm pretty sure aTelloPilot is not guilty of my problems ;)

After performing any more test I noticed Gamesir T1 USB OTG disconecction is not due an aTelloPilot bug but more a hardware/Operating System issue.

(I'm flying using a Samsung A3 2015 SM-A300FU mobile phone running Android LineageOS version 14.1)

I tested Gamesir T1 into another Android aplications and the same disconnection problem occurs.

I installed "Gamepad Tester" Goggle Play free app

gamepad tester google play.jpg

This way I could monitorize Gamesir T1 status.
"Gamepad Tester" app shows Gamesir T1 status this way:

Code:

After a few minutes (about fifteen) Gamesir T1 stops working. Even if I move stick/push buttons there is no screen response. No messages. No warnings. Simply it stops working.

However "Gamepad Tester" keeps showing Gamesir controller as connected !

Maybe controller entered into an "sleep" mode ?

I need to investigate more thoroughly.

I'll keep working here Gamesir T1 controller sleep mode

Yes, when Tello first take off it Will drift back right, but when i move back - front -side to side on my PS4 gamepad stick several time, the Tello Will stop drifting, and it Will not drift until the battery depleted

If so, I think the joystick reports wrong position.
If you check it with "Gamepad Tester" as raulvolador did, you may see the axis is not centered unless you shake the stick..

Hi bluejune, is possible for your virtual stick to follow the finger's on virtual stick?!if ever kindly please enlarge a little bit the areas to control the virtual stick...
My fingers keep slipping and lost orientation ? I don't have real controller and base from others users also...the virtual stick are not phone user's friendly ????
